A. Lee Martinez graces the hallowed metal halls of the Dead Robots’ Society

Hi, everyone. Episode # 8 is not your normal show. This time, instead of you listening to a bunch of unpublished writers wax philosophical about their craft, you are going to have the pleasure of listening to someone who’s actually done it. Writer A. Lee Martinez, who has published three novels (“Gil’s All Fright Diner,” “In The Company Of Ogres,” and “A Nameless Witch”), with a fourth coming in a few months, was gracious enough to sit down with Justin Macumber and do a personal one-on-one interview., right in his own robo-home. So, settle in, lean back, and enjoy.

If you want to learn more about A. Lee Martinez, you can visit his website at, and he also has a MySpace page at

Come get yer pipin’ hot podcast! Episode 7 – Getting Started ready for consumption!

Hey, everyone, just letting you know that our latest episode is up and ready for download. In this episode we discuss the process of actually getting started on our projects. We’ve done the research, we’ve written (or not written) our outline, we’ve got our characters, and now we actually have to write the darn thing. Where do you start? Come and join us while we discuss this and more.

Episode 6: Universe Building Part 2 – Electric Boogaloo

Yeah, all you happy robotic compers! Just wanted to let all of you know that Episode 6 of the Dead Robots’ Society is out, and in it we continue our discussion on universe creation. Hey, the universe is a big place, and that requires a lot of talk! You try getting it all done in one hour! So, come and join us as we flesh out our individual processes, get those universes put together, and continue on forward in getting those stories written.

Episode 4 – Universe Building is ready and waiting for you

Sorry that I’m late posting this up, but hopefully your downloading program of choice already clued you in that our fourth episode was up and available. In this show we discussing varying aspects of universe creating, with ou talking ranging from how much is enough to get started, to how much is too much entirely. We had a good time giving our differing takes, and we hope you enjoy listening. Take care.

Episode 3 – Multiple Projects is available for download

Rampaging singularities might be a roadblock for some, but not for us. Our third episode has been posted, and now is available for download via your method of choice. In this episode, hosted by Amanda Cales, we discuss the problems and benefits of working on more than one project at a time, as well as delving a bit into how other things like movies and reading other books can impact your work. I hope everyone enjoys the show and gets as much out of it as we did.

A black hole swept through the Dead Robots’ office

At least, that’s the story we’re going with. Due to forces beyond our control (the aforementioned rampaging black hole, natch) we have had to delay recording episode four until next week. But, all is not lost! Episode three is nearly ready to post up, so the pain and heartache should be mitigated to some degree, so chin up, buckaroos. We’re still here. It’ll take more than a rogue singularity to keep us down.

Now, please return to your regularly scheduled program…

Episode 2 – Character Creation is now up

Hi, everyone! Just a quick note to say that we have uploaded our second episode, and it is now available for mass consumption. In this episode Ryan, Amanda, Steve, and I all talk about our different methods for creating characters, and we even speak a little about how we have our characters develop throughout the story they are part of. During the course of our conversation we mention the following websites:

Michael A. Stackpole’s “Stormwolf”

Seventh Sanctum

Holly Lisle Shop

So please, give the show a listen, and please leave feedback, both here and at our iTunes page in the iTunes store. Take care!
